Are all our dreams are repressed desires? What does it mean? Dreams are a common experience that can be explained as a situation of consciousness characterize by sensory, cognitive perception and emotional incidents during sleep time. Freudian theory speaks about dreams are all wish-fulfillment desires from repressed by ego and superego. He always says “Dreams are Royal to unconsciousness.” (http://dreampsychology.in/sigmund-freud-thoughts-on-dreamwork/). This repressed feeling often forms from guilt and taboos imposed by the peer group and society.
It seems the dream is a combination of conscious and subconscious working parallel in our minds. The conscious denotes feelings, perceptions, fantasies, and memories also. Our preconscious mind always speaks about which things that we are not at all thinking of at that moment but it may the awareness into consciousness. Freud’s Psychoanalytic theory explains the conscious mind consists of inward of our awareness, which means the aspect of our emotional processing that what we can talk and think about in a rational way. The unconscious mind always has an influence on our behavior patterns. The unconscious mind is the storage of thoughts, recollections, and urges. The unconscious may contain unpleasant situations, such as the feeling of pain, gloominess, fretfulness, stress or personal conflicts.
Freud explained the mind in three levels of an iceberg, this is called topographical. The tip of the iceberg that we can see above the water level it represents the preconscious mind, the second part of the iceberg that is submerged below the water but is still visible is the preconscious mind. The immensity of the iceberg that lies unseen beneath the waterline that is the unconscious mind. The situations that happen daily in our lives, the things we see and unseen, people we meet and ignore, what we hear anything by any means is all stored in a large record of our brain. These incidents come out in the dream and compose us to analyze whether it is connected to the past or the intuitions that want to give some answers.
The Dreamer situation in real life:
This dreamer had a situation all alone with no friends in the long run except cut short people around her. With busy parents, gossiping classmates, already settled cousins no grandparents, average in studies, didn’t know about future plans. There comes a day when she was having a happy time waiting for UG admission and had a dream which left her in confusion not realizing the reason for such a dream situation.
Here we are going to discuss about a dream:
Dream – “I was walking in my dream, all alone in a large ship. Then I saw many people busy with their work not minding others. Then there was my father just standing and looking at me. I saw him and still, I was walking and now I am at the deck of the ship climbing on to a pole where sailors watch for safe navigation. I stood at the watchkeeper’s place and could see the ocean around me. Wondering and wandering didn’t know what that means right before starting my new phase of life, kept seeing the ocean from the top just staring all the while. It just ended suddenly.”
The virtue of the dream:
Dream interpreters always say that dreams mean that you are trying to avoid a situation or something in your daily life, that desires being chased in the dream and the dreamer wants to escape from the own fears or desires. In this, the dreamer wants to continue the study and wants to spend time on fun events. Here the dreamer is thinking weather to continue her study and settling things with routine, her dream showing climbing a pole and showing the navigation is telling her to focus on studies and move one with the live play. The dreamer continued her education after marriage also focused more on the study and started searching for new arenas where the dreamer can reach the top. Once dreamer paved a path to reach that goal that dreams stopped. Because the dreamer stopped worrying about desires because dreamer fulfilled repressed wishes. These anecdotal annotations and individual case study suggest that elements from the day by day re-emerge in dream-like images during the evolution from wakefulness to sleep.

Does that mean in this dream, the dreamer was afraid of joining college? Because college is all about freedom Then why fear!
Excellent and interesting.
Dream is nothing but a projection of our inner thoughts 😉
